	Fr. Stephen Roszel Catholic Herald May 9, 2002 Father Stephen Roszel was born in Nashua, N.H., on Oct. 6, 1951, one of eight children of Joseph Richard and Rita Eileen (Gagnon) Roszel. He attended grammar school at St. James in Falls Church and graduated high school from St. John Vianney Seminary in Richmond in 1969. He attended college at St. Mary's Seminary in Baltimore, Md., graduating in 1973. Father Roszel attended theological seminary at American College of University of Louvain, Belgium, where he received his graduate degree in 1976. He was ordained to the priesthood by Arlington Founding Bishop Thomas J. Welsh on July 9, 1977. After his ordination, Father Roszel was assigned to St. Ann Church in Arlington until May 1980, when he moved to Our Lady of Lourdes in Arlington. He remained in residence at Our Lady of Lourdes while taking a semester of canon law studies at Catholic University. From January through May 1981, Father Roszel was associate pastor of St. Mary Church in Alexandria. He was then associate pastor of St. Philip in Falls Church until 1984, when he became associate pastor of Blessed Sacrament in Alexandria until 1988. For the next year, Father Roszel resumed graduate studies at Catholic University, where he received a degree in canon law in 1990. He was also assistant director of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception during this time. Father Roszel became pastor of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Alexandria in 1990. Currently, he is in residence at St. Rita Parish in Alexandria.
