Here's a new list about where Harrisburg diocese clergy accused of abuse served in York County

New information released by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg shows that some parishes had multiple clergy members accused of sexual abuse or inappropriate conduct with children.

At St. Joseph of York, for instance, there were 11 clergy members who served there who had an allegation against them at some point.

The information was released by the diocese on Monday, days after it released the names of more than 70 clergy members with allegations against them. In releasing the names last week, the diocese said it was not making an assessment of guilt. Instead, it says it was releasing a list of everyone with an allegation against them that had not been proven false.

“I acknowledge the sinfulness of those who have harmed these survivors, as well as the action and inaction of those in church leadership who failed to respond to you appropriately and justly,” Bishop Ronald Gainer said in a statement Monday.

The below list is based on information provided by the Diocese of Harrisburg. It described the parish where the clergy member served and the allegations against them. The allegation or allegations might have occurred in a different parish. Some names are repeated because some clergy served in multiple parishes through the years.

Holy Infant

1. Monsignor Francis Hudak, 1993-1995: After his death, Hudak was accused of sexual abuse of a child by the survivor.

Saint Joseph

1. Father Richard Barry, 1981-1983: Multiple allegations of sexual abuse of children. The diocese said it is unknown if Barry is alive or dead.
2. Father Raymond Dougherty, 1953-1954: After his death, Dougherty was accused of sexual abuse of a child by two survivors.
3.  Father Raymond Prybis, 1989-1990: Prybis served in the diocese but was not the subject of any allegation of abuse there. According to online reports, Prybis was accused of sexual misconduct with a child while he was in Massachusetts. Prybis is alive.

Saint Joseph Parish

1. Father August Giella, 1980-1982: There were multiple allegations of sexual abuse, the diocese said. He is now dead.
2. Father Charles Procopio, 1983-1984: The diocese received an allegation that Procopio was inappropriately touching and kissing minors. He is dead.

Saint Vincent de Paul

1. Father Thomas Lawler, 1960-1961: After his death, he was accused of sexual abuse of a child by two survivors, the diocese said.
2. Monsignor Robert Maher, 1961-1974: After his death, he was the subject of multiple allegations of sexual abuse of children, the diocese said.

Saint John the Baptist

1. Father Donald Cramer II, 2004-2005: Homeland Security investigated him for possible child pornography and federal law violations, according to the diocese. The agency found nothing criminal on his computer and stopped the investigation. Cramer is alive.
2.  Father Walter Emala, 1981-1985: Someone alleged that she saw him kiss a minor on the lips, in the early 1980s, the diocese reported. Emala is on the list of accused priests of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. He is dead.
3.  Father Kevin Kayda II, 2013: Kayda’s personal laptop was forensically evaluated, the diocese reported, and it was found to contain images of child pornography as well as internet usage involving child pornography websites. He is dead.
4. Father Joseph Pease, 1973-1978: Multiple allegations of sexual abuse of children. Pease is alive, according to the diocese.

Immaculate Heart of Mary

1. Father Frederick Bradel, 1973-1974: Following his death, the diocese said, the survivor accused him of several years of inappropriate behavior.
2. Father Raymond Dougherty, 1945-1946: After his death, Dougherty was accused of sexual abuse of a child by two survivors.

Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary (1852 German)

1. Monsignor Joseph Hager, 1934: After his death, the diocese reported that Hager was accused of sexual abuse of a child by the survivor.

Saint Joseph

1. Father Frederick Bradel , 1950-1951: Following his death, the diocese said, the survivor accused him of several years of inappropriate behavior.
2. Monsignor Joseph Bradley, 1951-1963: He was accused of sexual abuse of a child, the diocese reported, after his death by the survivor.
3. Father Philip DeChico, 1974-1976: DeChico was accused of sexual abuse of a child after his death by the survivor, according to the diocese.
4. Monsignor Joseph Hager, 1934-1937: After his death, he was accused of sexual abuse of a child by the survivor, the diocese said.
5. Father William Haviland, 1962-1963: Haviland was accused of sexual abuse of a child in life. After his death, according to the diocese, another person accused him of sexual abuse of a child.
6. Father George Koychick, 1953-1957: The diocese reported that it received multiple allegations of sexual abuse of children when he was alive. Koychick is dead.
7.  Monsignor Thomas Kujovsky, 1962-1963: The diocese said it received an allegation that pornography containing an image of a nude altar boy was found in his room. In another incident, animated pornography that appeared to depict child sex abuse was found in his room. The district attorney concluded it was not criminal, according to the diocese. He is dead.
8. Father Thomas Lawler, 1961-1962: Two people accused him of sexual abuse of a child after his death, the diocese said.
9.  Father John Rebovich, 1973-1974: He was accused of sexual abuse of a child by the survivor, according to the diocese. Years before the diocese received the allegation, Rebovich was accused in other dioceses of sexual abuse of children. He is dead.
10.  Father Thomas Scala, 1974-1977: The diocese said it received three allegations of sexual abuse of children against Scala. He is alive.
11. Father Frederick Vaughn, 1963-1965: Following his death, he was the subject of multiple allegations of sexual abuse of children, according to the diocese.

The church is now located in Springettsbury Township.

Saint Patrick

1. Father Francis Bach, 1964-1965: Multiple allegations of sexual abuse of children. He is dead.
2. Monsignor Joseph Bradley, 1945-1950: After his death, Bradley was accused of sexual abuse of a child by the survivor.
3. Father William Cawley, York Catholic High School, 1988-1991, 1993-2004: Cawley was not the subject of any allegations while serving in the diocese. He was accused of sexual abuse of a child in a lawsuit filed in Montana.
4. Father Raymond Dougherty, 1949-1953: After his death, Dougherty was accused of sexual abuse of a child by two survivors.
5. Father George Koychick, 1967-1981: Multiple allegations of sexual abuse of a child. Koychick is dead.
6. Father Daniel Mahoney, 1952-1954: Mahoney was accused of sexual abuse of a child by the survivor and by another person after his death.
7. Father Salvatore Zangari, 1944-1946: Multiple allegations of sexual abuse of children. He is dead.

St. Rose of Lima

1. Father Francis Bach, 1975-1976: There were multiple allegations of sexual abuse of children, the diocese said. He is dead.
2. Monsignor Robert Maher, 1937-1939: After his death, Maher was the subject of multiple allegations of sexual abuse of children, the diocese said.
3. Father Guy Marsico, 1982-1985: There were multiple allegations of sexual abuse of children, the diocese said. He is alive.
4. Father Neil Murphy, 1958-1961: After his death, Murphy was accused of sexual abuse of a child by the survivor, the diocese said.
5. Father Stephen Rolko, 1961-1964: After his death, Rolko was accused of sexual abuse of a child by the survivor, the diocese said.
6. Father Herbert Shank, 1984-1994: There were multiple allegations of sexual abuse of children, the diocese said. He is alive.

There is at least one discrepancy between the updated information provided by the Harrisburg diocese on Monday and a previous grand jury investigation.

The diocese’s updated document lists Father Reginald Krakovsky under “unassigned clergy and seminarians.” The update indicates Krakovsky, who is dead, was not the subject of any allegation of abuse, but he is on the list of accused priests of the Diocese of St. Cloud, Minnesota.

The diocese did not list him under Saint Joseph’s in York.

But previous reporting by the York Daily Record, citing the grand jury report issued after the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown was investigated and a report was issued in 2016, noted Krakovsky was assigned to St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in York from 1957 to 1958.

The assignment history listed in the grand jury report indicated Krakovsky sexually abused two boys between 1963 and 1964, according to the presentment, at a church in Minnesota. The diocese reported that he was not the subject of any allegation of abuse when alive. He died in 1997.

The Harrisburg diocese’s Aug. 6 update also does not provide full information about clergy who served in Catholic schools.

As an example, the diocese’s update indicates Father William Cawley, listed under Saint Patrick in York. Next to Cawley’s name on the list, it says “York Catholic High School, 1988-1991, 1993-2004.”

But, according to a statement from York Catholic, published to its website recently, Cawley taught at the high school from 1988 until 2012, as a result of allegations of child sexual abuse.
