A credibly accused serial predator priest has made bail.
[Greenwich Time]
We are terribly afraid that Fr. Broussard may hurt more kids now that he’s no longer locked up.
We beg the Catholic bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lake Charles to do everything he can to warn his flock about this dangerous predator. If he refuses, we beg every single Catholic church employee and member in the Lake Charles area to spread the word about Broussard.
Catholic officials recruited, educated, ordained, trained, transferred and protected Broussard for years. They still have a duty now – regardless of Broussard’s clerical status – to safeguard their flock and the public from him. The church hierarchy can’t suddenly wash their hands of a criminal cleric when it’s convenient for them, while doing little or nothing to alert parents, parishioners and the public about his history of child sex crimes.
The members of Broussard’s family who helped bail him out are taking an enormous risk. Every single relative who chipped in for his bail has a moral obligation to watch him and keep him away from kids. If he sexually assaults a niece or nephew, it will be very hard for that child to forgive his or her parents for enabling that horrific crime by helping to spring Broussard from jail.
If you saw, suspected or suffered clergy sex crimes or cover ups in Lake Charles - especially by or involving Broussard – we beg you to find the courage to get help, speak up, call police, and protect others. By doing so, you will also be helping your own healing.
