The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests or SNAP demonstrated outside the Oblate School of Theology.

A former priest named in a sex abuse lawsuit recently settled with the Archdiocese of Boston works at the graduate school.

In a statement by the U.S. Province of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate the religious order pointed out the work by Don Joyce at the graduate school does not involve minors.

"Don Joyce currently works as a librarian at the graduate school; he is not a professor and does not provide instruction. Don Joyce has not been involved in active ministry for many years. He is not functioning as a Catholic priest and does not have permission to do so. The claim brought by attorney Mitchell Garabedian involving Don Joyce was settle without admission of liability. The U.S. Province of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate adheres to strict policies, in accordance with civil and ecclesiastical procedures, in investigating allegations of misconduct."

Attorney Mitchell Garabedian has represented more than 750 victims of clergy sexual abuse, including the original John Geoghan victims in Boston. Garabedian calls all victims of sexual abuse who come forward heroes for revealing such a horrible truth.

"By coming forward and speaking out, my client is empowering himself, empowering other victims and making the world a safer place for children," said Garabedian.
