Jesuits Seek Sex Abuse Victims of Former Priest By Ron Cassie Baltimore Sun February 8, 2007 http://www.examiner.com/a-553808~Jesuits_seek_sex_abuse_victims_of_former_priest.html Baltimore - The Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus said Wednesday that it is looking for possible additional victims of a former local priest. The Rev. H. Cornell Bradley, who worked and lived in Baltimore from 1979 to 1989, was recently accused of abusing a minor in 1973 while at Gonzaga College High School in Washington. Jesuit organization spokeswoman Kate Pipkin said an investigation last year confirmed that Bradley, 69, committed sexual misconduct with a man in Baltimore in the early 1980s. Criminal charges were not pursued in that case, and the statute of limitations has expired. "He was removed from the ministry in January 2006," Pipkin said. "He is living in a Jesuit community in the mid-Atlantic-region and has not denied the new accusations. He's under supervision and prevented from leaving the premises without another Jesuit." Bradley lived at the Jesuit residence at Loyola College of Baltimore from 1979 to 1981. From 1981 to 1989, Bradley worked for Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus and lived in a Jesuit residence on Guilford Avenue in Baltimore. Three other allegations of sexual misconduct were made against Bradley in 1993, two involving minors that occurred between 1968 to 1988, after which he received residential psychiatric treatment, Pipkin said. Bradley eventually returned to the ministry in 1995. New procedures, in place since 2004, now prevent those who have committed sexual misconduct with minors from returning to the ministry, The Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus said. Anyone with information about possible sexual conduct or pastoral misconduct by Bradley should call the Maryland Province Victim Assistance Coordinator at 443-370-6357.
