A Catholic priest who was previously jailed for seven years has again been jailed for sexual offences against a minor.

Daniel Curran was jailed for 14 months at Belfast Crown Court and ordered to sign the sex offenders register for ten years.

Curran, from Byransford Avenue, Newcastle, Co Down, pleaded guilty to five counts of indecent assault against one young boy between 1977 and 1982.

The court heard the victim had been abused on a regular basis over a five-year period.

Curran had formed a relationship with the victim's mother and was a frequent visitor to the boy's home.

He was jailed for seven years in 1995 for indecently assaulting nine boys and the priest had since received therapy and had been monitored on a monthly basis.
