	Lawsuits Settled against Former Priest KWWL [Iowa] April 19, 2006 http://www.kwwl.com/Global/story.asp?S=4790974&nav=2Ifu Three men suing a former eastern Iowa priest for sexual abuse reach a settlement out of court. Former Waterloo residents Joseph Faucher and Steven Lown and current Waterloo resident, Dr. Donald Schmit, say William Schwartz abused them when they were students at Columbus High School in the 1960's and 1970's. Schwartz was serving as spiritual director at Columbus and Associate Pastor at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waterloo. Terms of the settlement are confidential. Schwartz, who now lives in Arizona, was defrocked by Pope Benedict XVI in December.
