DOWNERS GROVE -- Two former employees of the Marquette Manor Baptist Church and school in Downers Grove were indicted for allegedly sexually assaulting underage girls, DuPage County prosecutors said Friday.

Former youth pastor Edward E. Greene, 35, of North Carolina was charged with three counts of criminal sexual assault; and former coach John Puga, 33, of Aurora was charge with one count of criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

The allegations became public in mid-February, but senior pastor Rev. David Canedy said church officials first learned of the accusations about two years ago when one of the girls told a counselor. The church reported the allegation to authorities, Canedy said. The Downers Grove Police Department and the DuPage County state's attorney's office both investigated.
