	Diocese Clears Pastor of Sex-Abuse Charges By Henry K. Lee San Francisco Chronicle [California] May 26, 2005 The pastor of St. Joseph the Worker parish has been cleared of decades- old sexual-abuse allegations, an Oakland Diocese official said Wednesday. In a letter to parishioners Sunday, Bishop Allen Vigneron wrote that officials "found that it is insufficient to support the allegation made against" the Rev. George Crespin, who is returning as pastor emeritus. Crespin was put on leave and retired in February after being accused by "a young adult" of sexual abuse in the 1980s. Crespin, 69, who has served as pastor at the Addison Street church since 1994, had denied the allegation in February, saying in a letter to parishioners, "I am firmly convinced that this is being done to get money from the church."
