	Opinion: Drive on Your Own Time Tucson Citizen [Phoenix AZ] Downloaded April 11, 2004 Bishop Thomas J. O'Brien went too far this week. O'Brien, former head of the Catholic Diocese of Phoenix, was convicted of leaving the scene of a fatal accident. A judge sentenced him to four years of supervised probation and ordered him to perform 1,000 hours of community service. But this week, O'Brien asked the judge to allow the time he spends driving to his community service work to count against the 1,000-hour requirement. The judge rightly rejected the request. O'Brien is fortunate not to be spending time behind bars. He shouldn't press it.
