Church Task Force Report Due Friday
Members Scrutinizing Diocese's Sex Abuse Policy

January 17, 2003

MANCHESTER, N.H. -- A task force that spent months evaluating the sexual misconduct policy for the Roman Catholic church in New Hampshire will release its report Friday.

Manchester Bishop John McCormack appointed the task force to compare the diocese's existing policy with the one adopted by the nation's bishops and to recommend changes.

Members said their top priorities are that the policy is enforced and that accusations are dealt with openly.

Though the report focuses on the task force's suggestions for changes, it also includes concerns expressed by the church's critics that are unrelated to the policy.
