  Reverend Harold F. Vieages

Rev. Harold F. Vieages, a priest of the Diocese of Reno, NV, died Friday morning, January 16, 2004, at a hospital in New Orleans, LA.

He had been on a leave of absence from ministry in the Diocese for many years.

Fr. Harold Vieages was born January 14, 1939, in New Orleans to Harold Henry Vieages and Pearl Cecile (Kelly) Vieages. He attended St. Joseph Minor Seminary in St. Benedict, Louisiana, and received a B. A. degree from St. John's Home Mission Seminary in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He completed his theological studies at Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon and was ordained a priest on April 28, 1964.

Father Vieages served as Parochial Vicar at St. Albert the Great Parish in Reno, Our Lady of Las Vegas and St. Teresa of Avila Parish in Carson City. He was appointed Pastor of St. John the Baptist Parish in Lovelock, NV, in 1971, where he remained until 1988. He was transferred to Holy Family Parish in Yerington in 1988 and resigned from that parish in 1991.

Fr. Vieages is survived by his cousins Steven Malliett, Nick Amato, and Joe Dimaggio and by his God-daughter Sharon Malliett.

His parents preceded him in death.

Burial took place on Monday, January 19th in the family plot in New Orleans.
