Assignment Record – Rev. Daniel Ramsey Barfield, s.j. Summary of Case: A Jesuit priest of the New Orleans Province ordained in 1967, Barfield was a teacher and counselor in Dallas, New Orleans and Houston high schools for the better part of the first two decades of his career. In 1985 he transferred to the Las Cruces, NM diocese, where he pastored two parishes and held numerous chancery positions. He died in 2003. In a 2013 lawsuit Barfield was accused of sexually, physically and psychologically assaulting and abusing a New Mexico altar boy in 1990. Barfield's accuser also named two other priests of the parish as perpetrators, including Rev. David Holley, who was convicted in 1993 of raping eight other local boys. Ordained: 1967 |

His accuser said he was also abused previously by St. Jude's priest, Rev. Wilfrid Diamond, beginning when he was 8 or 9 years-old, and by Rev. David Holley. Holley was convicted in 1993 of sodomizing and molesting eight other Alamogordo boys. The priests' accuser said that Barfield held him down while Holley raped him. |
