Fr. Leo Van Hoorn
Named publicly as accused by the diocese on its list 2/6/19. From Holland. Arrived in the U.S. in 1956. Suspended from active ministry in 1979. Died in 2006. Allegation to Review Board in 2006 of sexual abuse of a male minor in 1967. A 2019 review by the Board of Van Hoorn’s file showed evidence of another credible allegation of sex abuse of a male minor. Accused in a lawsuit filed in 8/20 of abusing a boy in first or second grade at Sacred Heart of Jesus in Pineville, in 1962-63. The suit claims Van Hoorn “raped and sexually assaulted many young boys.”
